Title: What Maisie Knew (2012)
IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1932767/
Contributed By: Lena Shakhanov
"A very powerful example of how damage is done to a little child by a narcissistic parent (in this case both parents) who spends time away more than he spends time with the child. Using other people who love the child to mask the neglect. A father, who feels himself to be a loving a caring parent, is happy to leave his child, who is in his custody, a decision he makes in less than 1 minute.
Illustrated false love, parental neglect, parental addictions to having a child, justified actions in the name of love, addiction to careers and self image and self importance, also shown a child's instinctive desire for love and to be loved while not caring where that loves comes from (a parent or a caretaker or a total stranger) which is confronting for those parents who have an addiction to thinking that they are always going to be best for their child no matter how bad they are to that child."

"This movie that suits many themes i feel, but one of them is an absent father. Here they show how father neglects his children for the sake of their own addiction to emotional escape (fear and grief) and use drug addiction as a tool to do that. Movie is also enriched with other examples of loss of the parents, tough start in life, shattered childhood, sexual abuse, victim like mind set, desire for delusion, mother's denial of any responsibility and any harm done to her children, passive father, children's desire to deny the lack of love from their parents and much more..."
