Hi Ellen

Welcome to the forum.

I would just like to make you aware of the below as you are currently not in alignment with the anonymity terms of use:
So, for those of you who are using a nickname, you MUST adhere to the following criteria in order to satisfy the anonymity terms:

1) Create an introduction thread in the relevant section of the forum and sharing your name (first name is fine) and a little about yourself...a summary of your life to the present day and sharing a bit about your Divine Truth experience would be great!
2) In addition to meeting criteria point number 1 above, you are required to edit your signature and entering the phrase "My name is Nicky" (obviously substituting my name for your real name).

This can be done in your User Control Panel by selecting "User Control Panel" from the dropdown box under your name near the top right of the page and then selecting "Profile" from the tabs at the top of this panel. You can then see on the left hand side an option for "Edit signature" and here you can simply type the above phrase into the text box and press "Submit."

Here is a flow chart directory of how to get to this part of the forum if you know how to navigate around and know where things are:

User Control Panel > Profile > Edit signature

Doing this means that on every single post that you have already made or will make going forwards, your real name is shown directly under any post that you make on the forum. This is loving and of benefit towards every other forum member so that if they would like to specifically address you on a thread, they can address you by your real name quickly and easily rather than needing to go searching for your intro thread to find your name
.
Alternatively, if you would like me to change your username for you just drop me an email at nicky@divinetruthhub.com stating what you'd like your username changed to (either first name/first name and surname/first name and initial or number) and then you don't need to comply with the above stuff.

Kind Regards
Nicky

Introduce Yourself

Post by Ellen Latham »

Here is a little about myself.

In a nutshell, my son Mason died five years ago at age 16 of a drug overdose. My husband and I have three daughters ages 23, 18 and 15. He and I have been separated for two years. Our divorce should be final soon.

The past five years have been challenging but I am also thankful for them. I have spent the last two years listening to all of the YouTube videos starting from the very beginning. (I skipped 2014 but will go back when I'm done with 2015). Since I am a stay at home mom, I have a lot of time alone during the day while the kids are at school to listen to the videos.

I have made progress and am beginning to see changes. I know that I can do this on my own, however I do talk with my friends about what I've learned. We have read A Course In Miracles once together and are starting it again. There is a lot of overlap which is interesting to see. I was hoping to find some people in Dallas who are as committed or more as I am to the Divine Truth path that I could talk with.

I am pretty driven right now. I've listened, learned, and begun to work through some emotions. I see the effects. I now look forward to each day because I see life as a great buffet of emotions that I get to recognize, grapple with, feel, release and then see if things change. It's amazing how instant the results are. I either feel better or its ground hog day and I feel worse.

I have recently gotten myself into a situation that I haven't been able to resolve. It's great because I am struggling so much. I go in waves of total upset, questioning, crying, basically freaking out which is unlike me, feeling better, then back around again only a little less after each wave. It is this situation that really made me realize that it's God I need to focus on first and then the emotions. Getting to know God and being at one with God is my goal... Not just releasing emotions to get to a higher sphere. I see it as that infinity symbol. I loop from God to my emotions and back again. I'm now using my emotions to learn about God rather than vice versa. Until recently, I was working on the emotions, asking for Gods help, then basically trading a released injury for Gods love. I had it all backwards. Now I have my emotional problem/situation but I try to spend as much time learning about God as I do working on the emotion. I was doing the emotional work to help myself get to God. But the new way I'm doing it is I am focused on getting to know God and I'm using my situations as opportunities to learn about God and myself. Sorry for rambling on there.

Since I didn't get anywhere with finding fellow Divine Truth Dallasites, today I have recruited a spiritual counselor to help me. He has agreed to learn about what I'm doing. I'm a bit nervous about asking for help on the Divine Truth path from someone who is unfamiliar with it. But i feel that he knows enough about God and I hope he will be interested to learn more about Divine Truth as he helps me.

Thank you Nicky for putting my name where it's supposed to be on the forum. I'll keep checking back to see if there are any other people from Dallas that I can meet.

Sincerely,
Ellen Latham

Hello Ellen,
Thanks for sharing a bit about yourself... I'm sorry to hear about your son's overdose. Everything you're learning & exploring now, hopefully he's attuning to as well. As you learn about God, connect with your emotions and release them, that's sure to help him!

I had been following ACIM for about 4 years when I learned about Jesus & Mary being on the earth again. I sent an inquiry to their office, wanting to learn if Jesus was involved in channelling the Course to Helen. So I just thought I'd share with you, Luli Faber's response (Luli helps out with all the inquiries they receive):

"AJ/Jesus wasn't involved in the Course of Miracles, and there are many, many differences between what Divine Truth teaches and the Course in Miracles. However people often either misinterpret Divine Truth because it can use similar language to that used in a Course in Miracles or other spiritual teachings, and that often leads people to think that they are teaching the same thing when they were not. Rather they are hearing Divine Truth through their own emotional filters."

Here is a segment of a transcript where AJ answered a question about that:
(It was from this talk: 20120815 Mediumship With Mary - Spirit Influence (Eng/Port) Transcript Audio Video P1 P2)

"Participant: There is a book called A Course in Miracles, do you have anything to do with that book?

AJ: No, I do not. I know the book. It was channelled through people on Earth who believed it was Jesus channelling to them. But the spirit channelling to them never believed he was Jesus; he was in the first sphere or the first dimension at the time of the channelling. He has since found the Divine Truth and he is well progressed in the spirit world now. He has been trying to correct the things that he channelled but of course the people on Earth who channelled the material are not open to the correction. And this is something that happens with many channellings given to Earth. The spirit often channels to a group of people on Earth and then the spirit learns more things and then he's not able to channel the corrections because the people on Earth don't believe it's the same spirit."

Best wishes

Luli

So Ellen, I realize this may not be new for you to hear. For me, this news made it clear that the Course couldn't offer what I then realized I do want, which is to know the Truths of God's Being & Creations, the reasons for life, and the purpose (if any there were) for my/our human life. I wound up learning a whole lot more than I had ever imagined was possible! (I'm still in awe of that; just that one piece, is totally awesome).

Warm Greetings, happy to meet you,
Julie
